Share our dream - a Detroit where families can have a safe, loving place to give birth
Just a few years ago, my dreammates Char’ly Snow, Elon Geffrard, Nicole White and I had a vision for our community. We dreamed of a Detroit where families could have a safe, loving place to give birth with midwives who were also from our community. That dream became a reality on February 4, 2025 when the first Birth Detroit baby was born in a room of love at our newly opened birth center.
I am excited for all Birth Detroit will accomplish in 2025. We recently launched Well Woman Care, which will ensure all women have access to important wellness services. We are kicking off our Mamas in Motion class designed to empower expectant parents through movement, education, and community. Our Whad Up Dad meet-ups provide community and support for fathers. Our education classes offer comprehensive childbirth and newborn care education to parents as they navigate life’s changes and grow their families
And we need your help. Today, Birth Detroit Development Director extraordinaire Pam and I are asking you to support Birth Detroit, as we work to ensure our midwives keep catching babies in a room full of love.
Your donation will:
- Ensure families who have no insurance or are underinsured can access care
- Help parents during their most vulnerable time receive education, care, and support for themselves and their infants
We’re not done transforming the spirit of care. This is just the beginning! We invite you to continue to lead with us in increasing access to safe, quality, loving midwifery care in Detroit. Please give today.
